God's Coffee

I read this at a Church I was at on Thursday and thought it was so great I would share it!

God's Coffee

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups — porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite — telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said:

"If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress."

"Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink."

"What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups… And then you began eyeing each other’s cups."

"Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live."

"Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us."

"God brews the coffee, not the cups………. Enjoy your coffee!"

The happiest people don’t have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

What button are you pushing?

About a month ago I had posted a note on facebook and decided that it would be a nice blog to post. (That and I wanted to post something but am too tired to think of anything creative. So I will recycle. Shhh...don't tell anyone.)

Wouldn't it be nice some days if we could push buttons on our arms like on a remote?

Button to fast forward
Button for extra patience
Button to get rid of anxiety
Button to make you not eat when you're not hungry
Button to make you exercise when you don't feel like it
Button to sensor/filter profanity
Button for motivation/anti-procrastination
Button to hold a nice smile when you really want to ROAR like a lion!
Button to extend your arm to reach that item you want on the top shelf. Go go gadget arm!
Button to wind down and lose the stress
Button to ease your heartache
Button to earn more money
Button to feel loved
Button to get rid of any jealous bone in your body
Button to subside any addictions

The list of possible buttons go on and on..

All I can say is that we have to remember that this is LIFE. There is no instant gratification. If we are not brought through hardships or struggles, we would not grow as individuals. Yes it's going to hurt. But that is when you push your
GOD button. He is the button of all time! The remote control of the world! He is watching and waiting for you to reach out.
Wanting to skip through a day, week, month, year? Pray God will give you strength.
Ready to bite your nails off because you are so anxious about a project? Pray God will calm your nerves. Philippians 4:6-7 says "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Tapping your foot off from being impatient? Pray God instills peace in your heart so that you don't have to be impatient. He's got your back! No need to worry. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11
Longing to find that special someone and be loved by them with all of their heart?Pray God shows you the love He feels for you and that He prepares your heart while waiting for your special someone. Your special someone's heart is being prepared for you too at this very second. God has the perfect person picked out for you! Keep the faith.

The point is, PRAY!
Pray, pray, pray. God has never left your side and will never leave your side. He wants to help you through any struggles you may face. Whether it's a small mouse of a problem to a Giant Goliath problem. Just reach out and ask Him to help. He is so full of LOVE! We love because He first loved us. I don't know about you, but God is my rock. My Savior. I will never pull away from Him. I'm a lifer! = )
